After the success of Pumpkin Patrols over the recent Halloween period, police are facing another busy weekend ahead; high visibility patrols will be sent out to ensure that the streets are safe.
"I'm really pleased with the response to our campaign messages so far and the very few reports of trouble over the Halloween weekend," said Superintendent Sharon Bush, who is co-ordinating the co-operation.
"Speaking to groups of potential troublemakers early doors has certainly made a difference and I'm glad incidents are down. We've been encouraging people to contact us with any concerns and we'll continue to do so as we approach Bonfire Night."
They also issued the following advice for those celebrating the event this weekend:
• Keep fireworks in a closed box
• Following the instructions on each firework
• Light at arm's length using a taper
• Stand well back
• Once a firework has been lit NEVER go back even if it hasn't gone off it could still explode
• Never put fireworks in your pocket or throw them
• Light sparklers one at a time and wear gloves
• Do not give sparklers to the under 5s
• Keep pets indoors
