The King's Speech opens tonight and will play in Guildford until the 11th February
The original screenplay is the one that inspired the Oscar-winning film of the same name and this version will run from tonight through to the 11th February before embarking on a national tour.
The cast features Charles Edwards, Jonathan Hyde, Emma Fielding, Ian McNeice and Joss Ackland. It's being directed by former Artistic Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company Adrian Noble.
"It's great that the film did so remarkably well but it is very much a play in its own right," said Laura Butler from the theatre to Eagle Radio.
"I think the essence of it is just such a good story.
"There are some bits that just didn't quite work in the film that do work on stage."
