Man attacked with hockey stick in Guildford

A MAN suffered a head injury after being assaulted with a hockey stick outside a DIY store in Guildford.

The 50-year-old victim was taken to Royal Surrey County Hospital after being knocked to the ground and beaten in Wickes car park in Woodbridge Road.

The assailant then drove away in a silver or grey 4x4 vehicle.

A 36-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the attack, which took place at 10am on Monday, November 26. He was bailed until January 21.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward with information.

Detective Constable Dave Pellatt investigating said: "This was a vicious attack on a man who was using the on site fast food facility when he was set upon by another man in broad daylight. 

"The unprovoked incident took place in an area which is accessible to any customers and was extremely aggressive. I am hoping there may be witnesses who have not yet come forward and who may have seen what happened."
