Motorist injured in Guildford bridge smash

A MOTORIST is in hospital with spinal injuries after his car hit a van before crashing into a bridge in Guildford.

A man,aged in his 20s, and a passenger were injured in the Guildford crash.
The incident took place around 5pm on Friday (January 11) when a blue Volvo V40 was travelling along Broad Street and collided with a stationary and unattended white Ford Transit van.
The Volvo then collided with a bridge.
The driver of the vehicle, a man in his 20s, was taken to St Georges Hospital in Tooting for treatment to spinal injuries by South East Coast Ambulance Service.
His passenger was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Road closures were in place in the immediate area while emergency crews attended the scene and recovery for the vehicles was made.
All closures were lifted around 9.15pm.
