It was another weekend of contrasts for local sports teams as the Guildford Heat slumped to a heavy defeat, the Guildford Flames had mixed fortunes against the Manchester Phoenix and Guildford City continued their winning run against Banstead Athletic.

The Heat had a poor second half and therefore slumped to their first defeat of 2012 against a Plymouth Raiders team desperate to bounce back from their recent BBL Cup Final defeat. Despite an impressive first quarter and the fact they were just one point down at the end of the first half, the second half saw them trail by about thirty points. The game ended 68-98, their heaviest loss of the season so far.

The Flames had a poor time of it in Manchester on Saturday night as they lost 4-1 to the Phoenix, meaning that the home team were right back in the league race. However, at the Spectrum the following night the Heat scored an important revenge win against the Phoenix, beating them comfortably 5-2. They keep their position at the top of the table.

Meanwhile, strong winds at Banstead Athletic made life difficult for Guildford City but they came through unscathed with a 2-0 win. Jack Guilford and Joel Hughes got on the scoresheet to ensure victory for the visitors.

Guildford City next play Wembley at home on the 28th whilst the Heat go to Essex to play the Pirates before returning home to to take on the Milton Keynes Lions the followning night. Meanwhile, Guildford Flames have two matches next weekend against the Telford Tigers; first at home and then away.
