Shopkeepers and petrol station employees are being warned to look out for a scam artist following a series of crimes, including one incident in Guildford.

On the 15th July, just before 5pm, at the Shell petrol station on Aldershot Road the criminal confused the cashier by asking to change £200 worth of £20 notes into £10 notes. Whilst the cashier was left with £100, the criminal left with £200.

The suspect has been described as:

  • An Asian male.
  • aged 30-35.
  • Black hair.
  • Wearing a black and white striped shirt.
  • Possibly with another man at the time of the incident.
A second incident took place in Send at another Shell petrol station on Portsmouth Road on the same day merely two hours after the first incident. This time the criminal asked the cashier to change £180 worth of £20 notes into £10 notes. He left with £180 whilst the cashier was left with £100.

If you have any information that Surrey Police could use in their investigation call 0845 125 2222 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
