Surrey County Council today announced their intention for libraries and museums across the county – including the Guildford borough – to be 'pop up' tourist information points during the Olympics.

Guildford Library could a 'pop up' tourist information centre for the Olympics.
SCC has already started to train staff on everything to do with the London games as well as tasking them with researching local attractions.
They are working with the Guildford Tourist Information Centre on the initiative.
"The 'pop-up' tourist information centres are an innovative way to provide visitors with information on everything from major attractions to great places to eat and shop," said Denise Saliagopoulos, Surrey County Council's Cabinet Member for Community Services and the 2012 Games.
"They will also provide information about Olympic events and venues and there will be takeaway maps promoting local businesses to help Surrey firms make the most of the Games."
This coincides with their plans to enhance libraries across the county – there are plans to install free wi-fi in all libraries before the Olympics start in July.
What do you think? Is this a good move? Should it have taken the Olympics for the council to improve the libraries? Let us know what you think with a comment.
