Those returning to the University of Surrey for the new term have been advised by Surrey Police to be extra vigilant with regards to security after a number of recent burglaries.
Items such as iPods, iPads, laptops, small electrical equipment and wallets have been stolen in four separate incidents on the halls on residence with three of those incidents happening yesterday (10th January).
A number of the stolen items were recovered on site by a police dog unit.
The suspects are being described as two men who are both 6ft tall, aged between 20 and 25-years old and clean shaven; one of them is described as similar in appearance to the actor James Corden (chubby build with slightly ginger or blonde hair) and wearing a hooded top whilst the other is described as slimmer with dark or black short hair and wearing a dark or navy coloured zipped hooded top.
"These offences are all similar and are proving to be an expensive and upsetting start to the new term for students at the University of Surrey," said Detective Inspector Andy Haslam.
"I would urge everyone on campus to be vigilant and aware of security. Even if they are only leaving their rooms for a short time, it is imperative that residents ensure all windows are locked completely, particularly with ground floor accommodation.
"Similarly it is important that everyone using the university halls takes responsibility and ensures windows and doors are locked within shared units."
Anyone with information about the burglaries is urged to call Surrey Police on 101, quoting reference quoting reference GD/12/287. Alternatively, they can also anonymously call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
