Following a hectic December that saw

Some bins are beginning to overflow
the snow create havoc amongst some public services, Guildford Borough
Council has announced the good news that the recycling and refuse
service are now back on track.
“The recent adverse weather caused
widespread disruption to waste and recycling collection services
throughout the country,” said Leader of the Council, Cllr Tony
Rooth.
“Whilst this also severely stretched
collection services in our area, Guildford Borough Council has been
able to deal with the backlog very quickly. We took an early decision
that it would not be acceptable for our residents to keep missing
collections at such a critical time of the year.
“We would like to thank residents
again for their patience and understanding during the weather
disruption.”
The snow disruption at the beginning of
December and towards Christmas left many residents stranded with
mountains of rubbish piling up because of the delay to recycling and
refuse services.
Twitter user RickMGoldie summed up the
frustration by tweeting two days ago: “Used to call the refuse
collectors 'Bin men'. I'm re-naming mine to 'Not been men'. No
collection for 5 weeks now.”
How badly affected have you been by the
disruption to recycling and refuse services? Could the Council have
handled the situation better?

Good to hear! I feel for those people who are having to wait so long to get their rubbish collected. They should never have done away with weekly bin collections!!
