It depends what you're coming for. There are all the usual suspects like the Travelodge (next to Frankie and Benny's) close to the city centre, but if you don't mind five minutes in a taxi the Manor House Hotel is nice, and the food is good. Not cheap though...

The Holiday Inn in Guildford is a good safe bet. Decent food, good beds and the like. If you travel a lot then Holiday Inn have a really good reward points scheme.
