I live in Tongham Oxenden Rd where there is a row of Bungalows predominantly owned by pensioners, adjoining the bungalows is a cut through road way with pedestrian alley way as a short cut to local shops for a housing estate. The Guildford Borough council has been contacted and written to on several occasions regarding the condition of the road and pathway by various people for some years now with out reply. We have had the holes filled with tarmac without the removal of loose chippings therefore does not last a month once completed. We are all paying our Poll tax and wasting money paying contractors to carry out work shoddily. This does not obsolve the council because they have been made aware of how long the filled holes last for. Also the council has a duty of care to the public particularly on the highway to carry out work when they have been made aware of a dangerous condition but fail to do so and in doing so makes them selves negligent. It is only a matter of time until the situation result in a cassualty from this and would hate to think of an elderly person falling particularly can be life threatening.
We dont seem to see this happening in Guildford locally to town so why is just because the fact we are on the edge of the Borough that we are treated in this way and in fact more over we equally pay for Poll tax. And just as i am having a good mown i will go on to complain about the grass that very rarely during the summer months gets cut out the front of the Bungalows because no one from the road can see it as it is shielded by large 20ft hedge rows. I wonder if the councillors old mum and dads have this digraceful treatment, i fear not. In addition the said hedgerows have not been cut back for years now, they look unsitely, are dangerous when cutting through to shops and are causing problems with the power lines. I rest my case few.
Please give us your experience of similar.
Many thanks.
