POETRY enthusiasts from Guildford are invited to an alternative spoken word night at a bar in the town this month (January, 2013).
The Antipoet and Mark Niel will be performing at Bar des Arts, which is located opposite the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Millbrook on Tuesday, January 29 from 8pm.
Sara Burks, Co-owner of Bar des Arts, said: “Our alternative poetry evening combines the talents of The Antipoet, which was the only act that sold out at Ledbury Festival last year (2012), and Milton Keynes poet laureate Mark Niel.
“Paul Eccentric and Ian Newman from The Antipoet will be entertaining the audience with their anarchic humour and parody alongside melodic bass rhythms and percussion and Mark will be performing some of his award-winning spoken word and slam poetry on the night.
“It is set to be a great event full of memorable and witty performances.”
Tickets for the event will cost £5 per person. Booking is essential and can be done by calling the bar on 01483 453227.
Bar des Arts is a café by day and a wine and cocktail bar by night. A range of wine, beers, cocktails and soft drinks are available to purchase, along with tapas. The bar hosts a variety of events and exhibitions, including live music, dance performances, open mic nights and many more.
