GUILDFORD-BASED whisky connoisseurs are this month (February, 2014) invited to learn the art of blending at a bar in the town.
The Chivas Art of Blending event will take place at Bar des Arts, which is located opposite the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Millbrook, on Wednesday, February 19 from 8pm.
Sara Burks, Co-owner of Bar des Arts, said: “Here at the bar we understand what it takes to blend a brilliant Scotch whisky and we’re inviting lovers of the drink to come along and learn the art too.
“Chivas Regal Brand Ambassador Phil Huckle will show people the secrets of marrying together single malts and lighter grain whiskies. Attendees will work with five fine malts from around Scotland and will also have the opportunity to sample them along with their own creation.”
There will be samples of the Chivas 12-year-old and Chivas 18-year-old whisky available for people to try throughout the evening.
The whisky has matured for 18 years in oak casks and has its own distinct character and flavour.
The blended Scotch whisky is produced by the Chivas Brothers and was established in 1801. It is made in the oldest operating Highland distillery, Strathisla Distillery at Keith in Spedside, Scotland.
Sara added: “Tickets for the event cost £20 and include whisky tasting, creating your own blend to take home and Scottish inspired tasting food platters.”
Booking is essential and can be done by calling the bar on 01483 453227.
Bar des Arts is a café by day and cocktail bar by night. A range of wine, beers, cocktails and soft drinks are available to purchase, along with meat and cheese platters. The bar hosts a variety of events and exhibitions, including live music, dance performances, open mic nights and many more.
The whisky tasting evening will take place at Bar des Arts on Wednesday, February 19 from 8pm.
