GUILDFORD folk interested in showcasing their creative works are next month (November, 2012) invited to a bar in the town for an evening of presentations.
Bar des Arts will be hosting PechaKucha, an event that is recognised worldwide and gives people the chance to share their work and ideas, on Tuesday, November 6 from 8pm.
Sara Burks, Co-owner of Bar des Arts, which is located opposite the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Millbrook, said: “We are delighted to be hosting PechaKucha at the bar again. It has proved extremely popular in the past and is always a very interesting evening.
“PechaKucha is a simple presentation format where people show 20 images, each for just 20 seconds. The person delivering the slide show will talk along to the images, making each presentation concise and fast-paced. Some of the subjects that will be covered on the night include photography, film making, sculpture and history.
“Attendees are welcome to present on any topic. PechaKucha nights are a great way for people to display their creative projects, however people can talk about anything they are passionate about.”
PechaKucha was invented in 2003 in Tokyo as an event for designers to meet, network and showcase their work. The event now happens in hundreds of cities around the world.
Simon Strong, who runs creative consultancy Human Zoo and will be running the evening, said: “PechaKucha is a great opportunity for activists, advocates, architects, creatives, designers and musicians to gain inspiration and meet like-minded people. The subjects of the presentations on the evening are always extremely interesting and varied and make for great entertainment.”
Human Zoo specialises in helping teams to innovate and adapt to change.
Entry to the event is free, but advanced booking is advisable. To book a seat, or to contact Simon for further information on speaking at the PechaKucha night, please visit http://tinyurl.com/d78fg9h
