PEOPLE from Guildford with a passion for Latin dancing are being invited to a bar in the town to take part in weekly dance classes this month (October, 2012).
Bar des Arts, which is located opposite the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Millbrook, will be hosting Kizomba, Bachata and Zouk dance classes every Monday from October 15.
Sara Burks, Co-owner of Bar des Arts, said: "The dance classes that have previously taken place at the bar have proved extremely popular. It is a great opportunity for people to get together and socialise as well as learn a new skill.
"Gio Papas, who runs the classes, is an excellent teacher and everybody really enjoys themselves during the evening. People should arrive at the bar from 7.45pm every Monday ready for the Bachata fun dance class at 8pm until 9pm.
"Between 9pm and 10pm there will be Kizomba dancing and from 10pm until midnight people can enjoy freestyle dancing."
During the classes people will also be able to learn Zouk dancing, a sensual two person dance with its roots originating from the French Caribbean and Bachata, a rhythmic free style dance.
Gio, who runs the dance company Latin Salsa, said: "I am really enjoying teaching the weekly dance classes at Bar des Arts. They are great fun and everyone gets involved with all of the dances."
Gio has been teaching all types of Latin dancing, including Salsa, Cha-cha-cha and Bachatango for more than 10 years.
Bar des Arts is a café by day and a wine and cocktail bar by night. A range of wine, beers, cocktails and soft drinks are available to purchase, along with tapas. The bar hosts a variety of events and exhibitions, including live music, dance performances, open mic nights and many more.
Sara added: "Tickets cost £8 and can be purchased by calling the bar on 01483 453227 or can be paid for on the evening. Gio will also turn DJ at the end of the night and play some of his favourite tracks."
