QUE BOLA? Guildfordians can get into the Cuban spirit this month (March, 2013) when a bar in the town pays homage to the Caribbean island for the evening.

The Cuban experience will envelop Bar des Arts on Thursday, March 28 from 7.30pm.

Sara Burks, Co-owner of Bar des Arts, which is located opposite the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Millbrook, said: “Our Cuban Night will make people feel like they have been whisked away to the Caribbean island for the evening.

“There will be Cuban-inspired live music from bar favourites The Lone Pepper Duo and their trumpeter Alex Paton that we hope will get everyone up and dancing.”

Cuba is well-known for its different styles of music, which is an important part of its culture. Cuban music has been hugely influential and helped to develop jazz and salsa.

Sara added: “People will be able to sample some traditional Havana Rum, from the island’s capital city, throughout the evening and there will be unique rum cocktails created especially for the night.

“We are really looking forward to the event. This is the fourth time we have held a Cuban-inspired evening and it has been extremely popular in the past. We hope everyone gets a real feel for the country.”

Entry is free. Booking is essential and can be done by calling the bar on 01483 453227 or emailing info@bardesarts.co.uk.

Bar des Arts is a café by day and a wine and cocktail bar by night. A range of wine, beers, cocktails and soft drinks are available to purchase, along with tapas. The bar hosts a variety of events and exhibitions, including live music, dance performances, open mic nights and many more.

The Cuban Night will take place at Bar des Arts on Thursday, March 28 from 7.30pm.
