The Christmas anti drink-drive campaign by Surrey Police has been a success this year.

Less than 6% of drivers tested between December 1st and January 1st were over the legal limit for driving compared with nearly 9% last year during the same time period.

The campaign was launched with an eyecatching image of a broken windscreen being projected onto the outside of the Friary centre and for the first time the police made use of text messaging to get the message across.  Bluetooth technology was also used to get the message across at pubs and clubs across the county.

Might be a generalisation that younger people binge, but to be fair, so was mine about older people more likely to drink and drive, I guess in the end it's the statistics that matter.  Although statistics do prove that 99% of statistics are made up.

I wonder when they tested those drivers. If they tested them in the morning off course more younger drivers would be caught as you youngsters binge drink, there as us older people just have a few pints so are sober the next morning.

My instinct is that you are probably right, but the statistics seem to show young men are the ones getting caught.  Maybe older people are just better at getting away with it...

I think older generations are actually more likely to drink drive than younger, as drink driving used to be more socially acceptable.  Wonder if statistics back me up, what does anyone else  think ??
