"Arial","sans-serif"">People travelling to and from the Royal Surrey County
Hospital in Guildford could be in for another month of travel misery, as works
by energy company EDF in the area are likely to continue until the end of September.
EDF has been laying 4km of new cables near the roundabout
in Egerton Road. The works, which started in mid-August, have led to regular
snarl-ups around the Hospital and the nearby Surrey Research Park, especially at peak travel times.
Get
Surrey reports that some commuters have faced delays of up to
two hours when leaving work. Speaking to the website, an EDF spokesperson said “EDF apologises for the recent traffic tailbacks caused
by our work at the roundabout.”
“We recognise this is a busy
area and programmed the project during the summer holidays to minimise the
impact,"
“We also worked closely with
our contractor, the local authority and Surrey Research Park to keep disruption
to a minimum.”
