    Very Average

Had a meal there and was most impressed by the standard of the service. You are made to feel very welcome. Most unimpressed by the quality of the food. Spicy as was expected by the standard of the butchery was dreadful. Bits of bone all over the place in my carribbean stew sort of dish. They charge a fair amount for substandard food. Would not go back.

    A lovely evening!

First time to Big Pappa's Kitchen and we enjoyed it. Loved the restaurant's layout and its friendly staff. The food was tasty - I can recommend Coq Au Rhum and I had the Minty Pineapple Mojito for dessert. The waitress said that the Mojito dessert was an acquired taste - some love it, some loathe it - I loved it! The service was friendly and relaxing. I will definitely go back!

    Great Food, friendly staff!!

Went to celebrate a Birthday and had a lovely meal, price was good too at £35 for 2 people with a nice bottle of wine. The jerk chicken was amazing, beautifully cooked, spiced and filling as 1 portion was a half chicken!! I will definatley be back and would recommend it to anybody looking for a change to the usual curry or Chinese. Go give it a go!

    WOW!

I went to this restaurant last night with my partner, we haven't tried caribbean food before so i wasn't sure what to expect. I was blown away the food was beautifully cooked and presented, I would have paid twice as much as the bill came to, big pappa himself came out to greet us and he is a really lovely guy, I cant recommend this place enough !
It was well priced for two of us and a bottle of wine it came to £40.00, I really would have paid £80 though I was so impressed!

    FAB restaurant. You must try.

Went to Big Papa's Kitchen Friday 7th January 2011. Have been to quite a few Caribben Restaurants say they are restaurants, but once you get there you find they are cafes.

Not Big Papa's. It's a proper restaurant. It's on London Road with ample parking at the back.

There were two of us. For starters, I had Bites and Kisses - shrimps with mango salsa and sour cream and partner had Salt Fish Fritters - saltfish and crab in alight batter with spicy mayo dip.

For main - I had crispy Adobo Fried Fish - fish lightly fried in all spice and adobo pepper. I asked mine to be very hot (3 chillies rating on menu) and they did it . It was excellent. Partner had curried goat - slow cooked goat done in West Indian curry powder, garlic and hot pepper. He said it was just right.

We shared Savoury Rice - very good. Roti - which was a bit of a disappointment as it was too thick and rotis are meant to be quite thin. Big Papa's Caribbean Coleslaw - turned out to be regular coleslaw with raisins when, in fact, it was supposed to be shredded coconut, pineapple and hot pepper. The regular coleslaw was good, but I wanted to try the Caribben coleslaw.

Couldn't do dessert as we were too full. Gives us excuse to go next time!

Drinks - We had Soda Water, Pineapple Juice, Rum and Coke and Pitcher of Cocktail

Total bill came to £55 which I thought was excellent value.

The staff were attentive and nothing was too much trouble. I would recommend this restaurant to friends and family. Am already planning to visit this restaurant again with a group of 8 friends.

    Brilliant food!

I went here last week with my sister and it was brilliant. The food was excellent, the service was really good. I couldn't fault it. The desserts are home made on site and you can really tell - they were amazing. For both of us to eat two course (no alochol) it was about £32 which i thought was very reasonable considering the quality of the food. Would recommend to everyone - so nice to see an independent restaurant, and Big Pappa was lovely too!
