England won a decisive
victory in their first game in the women's rugby world cup on Friday
against Ireland.
Fi Pocock and Katherine
Merchant both scored in the first half of a hard fought game. Amy
Turner and Maggie Alphonsi both scored in the second half to gain
England the bonis points for scoring four tries.
Ireland pushed hard and
applied the pressure throughout the game but England's defense proved
strong enough and the Irish never managed to cross the line.
All in all a great
start to the England team even though their win wasn't enough to put
them at the top of the group as the USA defeated Kazakhstan 51-0 in
an impressive display of Rugby.
England's next game is
against Kazakhstan on Tuesday 24th.
