Guildford queues the longest

The
consumer group Passenger Focus has discovered that the new ticket
machines introduced to reduce queuing at UK stations are in fact
causing increased queuing, increased passenger frustration and in
some instances leaving people paying more than they should.
Nowhere
were the station queues worse than in Guildford according to the
study.
“Ticket
machines can present bewildering jargon, a barrage of information and
choices as well as incomplete information about ticket restrictions,”
said Ashwin Kumar, Passenger Focus’s rail director.
“As
a result some passengers would rather queue to speak to a member of
staff, buy more expensive tickets than they need to or just give up
and join the ticket office queue.”
Have
you been affected by the new machines? What do you think?
